BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO VOTE ON BID FOR WOOD UTILITY POLE INSPECTION & REINFORCEMENT

The Brenham City Council will look to accept a bid on Thursday for the city’s annual wood utility pole inspection and reinforcement project.

Two bids were received for the project, which will allow for the inspection of 641 wood poles for any integrity issues at the ground level.  A contractor will verify that the poles can be reinforced before attaching a reinforcing mechanism.  The city says the process will extend the life of the poles for another 10 to 15 years.

City staff recommends accepting the bid of Entrust Solutions Group for a cost not to exceed $61,000.

Also in session, the council will consider two specific use permit requests from property owners wishing to build accessory dwelling units (ADUs) at 1604 Eldon Street and 1306 Ewing Street.  The two requests were recommended for approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission last week, with conditions to provide additional parking accommodations.

In other business, the council will:

  • Hold executive session discussion on three items, including consulting with an attorney regarding Dustyn Banik, Alma Sanchez and Gerran Banik v. City of Brenham, Texas; Civil Action No. 4:25-cv-2487; United States District Court, Southern District of Texas, Houston Division.  The other two items are consultation with an attorney concerning claims of illegality of the downtown parklet located in the 200 block of Park Street, along with discussion regarding the purchase, exchange or acquisition of real property for City of Brenham Electric Department improvements and facilities.  No action is expected to be taken on any of the discussion.

The council will meet Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
