BELLVILLE GIRL AMONG HILL COUNTRY FLOOD VICTIMS; LAW ENFORCEMENT PROCESSION BRINGING HER HOME WEDNESDAY
Law enforcement from Austin County is bringing home an 8-year-old girl from Bellville who lost her life in the Hill Country floods.
Virginia Hollis was among the campers missing from Camp Mystic after the Guadalupe River flooded over the Fourth of July weekend. According to Bellville Police Chief Jason Smalley, Virginia, who is the daughter of Lars and Lacey Elick Hollis, was found on Monday.
As of today (Wednesday), over 130 people have died, and around 100 are still missing.
The Bellville Police Department says that law enforcement officials representing the full county, along with many other agencies along the way, are bringing Virginia home today. They will be traveling from San Antonio along I-10 East to Columbus, exiting Highway 71 to FM 109.
The procession will continue along FM 109 through Frelsburg, New Ulm and into Industry, where it will take Highway 159 West to Bellville. From there, it will travel on Highway 36 South through town, around the square and to Faith Academy before ending at Schmidt Funeral Home. The police department says it expects to arrive in Bellville at 6 p.m.
