BRENHAM FD RESPONDS TO FIRE CALL CAUSED BY SMOKING WASHING MACHINE
The Brenham Fire Department responded to three calls on Wednesday.
Two of the calls were to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South. The first was around 8:15 a.m., when units received a report of a structure fire. Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building when they arrived, but they found that a belt on a washing machine was causing smoke and the alarm to go off. Firefighters spoke with maintenance, who advised they would fix the machine.
Another report of a structure fire was called in at the facility shortly before 9:45 a.m. The department found a bad smoke detector was causing the alarm, and there was no smoke or fire in the building.
Just past 11 a.m., BFD members were dispatched to an alarm sounding at a home in the 600 block of Crockett Street. Nothing was showing from the outside of the building, and they found that the alarm was caused by a bad detector.
