BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TO HOLD BUDGET WORKSHOP

Discussion on Brenham ISD’s budget projections for the upcoming school year will continue during a board of trustees workshop on Monday.

The workshop comes after the board’s meeting this past Tuesday, where it set a proposed tax rate and scheduled a public hearing for the tax rate and budget at its next regular meeting on August 12th.

The proposed tax rate is $0.7922 per $100 valuation, consisting of $0.7122 for maintenance and operations (M&O) and $0.08 for interest and sinking (I&S).

The rate eventually adopted is anticipated to be below that figure, due to state compression requirements.  Should state calculations remain the same, the final rate – if the board decides to call a voter approval tax rate election – will be $0.7684 per $100, with $0.6884 for M&O and $0.08 for I&S.  Currently, Brenham ISD’s tax rate is $0.7469 per $100, with the M&O set at $0.6669 and the I&S at $0.08.

Other than the workshop, trustees will hold an executive session to consider and possibly approve the hiring of an assistant principal at Brenham Junior High School.  Additionally, they will vote on an annual item regarding the purchase of attendance credits for the 2025-26 school year and delegating contractual authority to the superintendent.

The board will meet Monday at noon in the Brenham ISD Administration Office.  The meeting will be livestreamed on Brenham ISD’s YouTube channel.
