BRENHAM FD RESPONDS TO FIRE AT INDEPENDENCE COFFEE CO.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to three calls on Friday.

Just past 10 a.m., units went out to a structure fire at Independence Coffee Company, 2815 Highway 290 West.  The Meyersville, Salem and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched as automatic aid.  Crews investigated and found there was a fire in one of the vent stacks for a coffee roaster.  The fire had been extinguished by staff prior to the departments’ arrival.

Around 6:45 p.m., BFD members were called out to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, for a fire alarm.  They found that the alarm was activated by a pull station, so the alarm was reset.

Close to 8:15 p.m., the Brenham Fire Department responded to a structure fire reported at a home in the 1300 block of Marie Street, with the Meyersville, Salem and Chappell Hill VFDs dispatched as automatic aid.  After investigation, they determined there was an electrical issue with the power chord for the water heater.  Firefighters unplugged the chord and turned off the breaker for the outlet before ventilating the house to remove the smoke that was present.
