CITY OF BURTON LIFTS WATER RESTRICTIONS UNTIL MONDAY

The City of Burton has temporarily lifted its Stage 4 water restrictions.

Burton Mayor Karen Buck said in a notice on Thursday the city’s water well team accomplished its production goals this week, so the Drought Contingency Plan has been lifted until Monday.  Another stage of well development is getting underway, so the restrictions will resume that morning at 6 a.m. and will be in effect through Friday.

Buck encouraged continued water conservation efforts, particularly as school resumes next week in Burton ISD.

The Stage 4 Drought Contingency Plan prohibits the usage of hose-end yard sprinklers or permanently-installed automatic sprinkler systems to water flower beds and gardens.  Only hand-held hoses, hand-held buckets and drip irrigation are allowed.

Also prohibited are the washing of any motor vehicle; adding water to swimming pools, wading pools and Jacuzzi-type pools; operating ornamental fountains; watering city parks; and power-washing buildings, sidewalks, gutters or other hard surfaces.

Residents are asked to take care of their water needs this weekend in preparation for next week.
