LADY PANTHERS WIN THREE ON FINAL DAY OF THE WALLER TOURNAMENT
The Burton Lady Panther Volleyball Team improved their record to 14-6 on the season with three wins on the final day of the Waller Tournament on Saturday.
In their first match of the day, the Lady Panthers defeated Conroe in two straight sets, 25-20 and 25-8. Lexi Broesche led the offense with seven kills, and Adison Harmel dished out 15 assists. On defense, Burton was led by Aerynn Huntsman, who had eight digs, while Madalyn Henry added four blocks.
The Lady Panthers followed that up with a two-set sweep over Huffman Hargrave, 25-20 and 25-18. Laci Broesche led Burton with seven kills, while also dishing out 10 assists. Harmel was the assist leader in the match with 12. Paige Fritsch led the defense with nine digs.
Burton would then wrap up the tournament with a 2-1 victory over Willis. The Lady Wildkats took the first set 25-19, but then the Lady Panthers came back to win the next two sets 25-23 and 25-22. Henry led offense with seven kills, while also having four more blocks on defense. Harmel finished with a team high 15 assists. She was followed closely by Laci Broesche, who had 13 assists. Lexi Broesche led the defense with 12 digs.
Burton finished the tournament with a 5-4 record playing against teams in Class 4A-6A.
The Lady Panthers will be on the road against Franklin for their next game tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 5pm.
