GAS PRICES UP FROM LAST WEEK FOR LABOR DAY

  

Gas prices heading into the Labor Day holiday are up from last week, but they are down from this time a year ago.

According to data from the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch, the statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $2.79.  The price is 6 cents more expensive than a week ago and 2 cents more than a month ago, but it is 15 cents cheaper than where it was at this point last year.

The average price at reporting gas stations in Brenham is $2.62, with a low of $2.46 and a high of $2.90.

Looking at the state’s metropolitan areas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average per gallon at $3.06, while drivers in the McAllen-Edinburgh-Mission area are spending the least at $2.58.

Nationwide, the average price per gallon of fuel is $3.20, an increase of 6 cents from last week and 7 cents more than last month, but a drop of 16 cents from a year ago.
