TWO GAS CALLS SATURDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to two calls on Saturday, both for reports of a gas odor.

The first call came in a few minutes after 8:15 a.m. for a gas smell at a home in the 1600 block of Westwind Drive.  Firefighters and the City of Brenham Gas Department made location to get readings on their detectors.  The source came from a bad stove knob.  The gas was turned off to the stove, and units ventilated the home.  After there were no readings on the gas detector, the fire department returned to service.

Around 12:45 p.m., the fire department and gas department were dispatched for a gas smell at a home in the 1400 block of Allison Street.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, but a small leak was found on the meter.  The gas department worked to repair the leak, and the fire department cleared the call.
