37TH ANNUAL TEXAS WENDISH FEST SUNDAY IN SERBIN

  

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society will present the 37th Annual Wendish Fest this Sunday.

The free festival celebrates Wendish history and culture with food, music, exhibits and demonstrations. Activities will take place beginning around 9:30 a.m. and run until 5 p.m. at the historic Serbin picnic grounds southwest of Giddings.

Events will include tours of the Texas Wendish Heritage Museum, children’s stick horse races and coloring contests, greased pole climbing, washer pitching, and a coffee cake bake-off and auction. Additionally, there will be demonstrations of Wendish noodle making, sausage stuffing, wine making and cross-cut sawing.

The Jodie Mikula Orchestra will provide entertainment.

Proceeds from the event support the Texas Wendish Heritage Society’s scholarship program, going toward students of Wendish descent.
