The 20th-ranked Blinn College men’s soccer team picked up a big Region 14 victory Saturday and made some program history in the process.

The Buccaneers earned a 2-1 victory over LSU-Eunice in Eunice, La., their first road win over the Bengals in program history.

Blinn improved to 7-2-1 overall and 5-2 in the region standings.

“This was a good result,” Bucs head coach Michael McBride said. “Any time you can pick up a win away from home in Region 14 you have to be pleased.”

The Bucs struck first when sophomore forward Cristian Estrada turned an assist from freshmen midfielders Jordan Franco and Paolo Imeneo into a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute.

Freshman defender Malikai Fry got Blinn going again in the second half when he scored on an assist from sophomore defender in the 64th.

The Bengals got on the board in the 75th.

The Bucs out-shot LSU-Eunice 15-7 and earned a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Sophomore goalkeeper Noah LeMaster made six saves while improving to 7-2-1 on the year. With 21 career wins, LeMaster is now tied for most victories by a Blinn keeper, a mark he shares with former Bucs great Kevin Pena (2021-22).

Next up for Blinn is a region rematch against No. 13 Coastal Bend College at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, at Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas. Blinn defeated the Cougars 3-1 on the road on Sept. 23.
