TOWN HALL, STAFF FORUMS PLANNED FOR BRENHAM ISD ELECTION INFORMATION

Anyone interested in learning more about Brenham ISD’s two voter propositions this fall will have opportunities this month to do so.

Brenham ISD Superintendent Clay Gillentine
(standing, left) speaks to attendees at an election
town hall on September 22nd at the Margaret E.
Blizzard Senior Activity Center. A second town hall
will be held on Thursday, October 9th at the
Washington County Expo.

Citizens Uniting for Brenham Schools (CUBS) will hold the second of two town hall meetings on Thursday, October 9th at 6 p.m. at the Washington County Expo Event Center.

The meeting will host district officials and members of the district’s strategic planning committee, who will give details about what next month’s ballot will contain: a voter approval tax rate election (VATRE) that proposes a property tax increase to fund teacher and staff pay raises and operational needs, and a $39 million bond proposal that will address high-priority capital projects at several campuses.

The first town hall on September 22nd drew limited attendance.  The public is encouraged to attend to learn more about the background for each of the propositions and what they seek to accomplish.

KWHI will broadcast the town hall on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com and will also livestream it on the KWHI Facebook page.

Aside from the town hall, CUBS invites all Brenham ISD staff members to a pair of staff forums on the proposals.  The forums will take place on Wednesday, October 8th and Sunday, October 12th, both beginning at 4:30 p.m. and both at Citizens State Bank.

CUBS is also scheduling meetings with a number of community organizations.  To set up a meeting or for general questions about the elections, email cubs4brenham@gmail.com

Election Day is November 4th.  Early voting runs October 20-31.
