TWO ACCIDENTS AMONG SEVEN CALLS TUESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department responded to seven calls on Tuesday.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a report of a transportation incident at West Blue Bell Road and Burleson Street. They made location to find a two-vehicle accident with minor damage to both vehicles and helped EMS with patient care. The department returned to service after both vehicles were removed from the roadway.
Another transportation incident was called in around 5:45 p.m. at South Chappell Hill Street and South Market Street. There, units found a two-vehicle accident with no injuries and assisted with cleaning the roadway. Once the vehicles were removed, the fire department cleared the call.
Just shy of 7 p.m., BFD members went out to Hampton Inn & Suites, 2605 Schulte Boulevard, for an alarm sounding. Nothing was showing from the exterior of the hotel, and they found an employee had burnt food in the oven. Firefighters used electric fans to remove the smoke.
Around 7:30 p.m., personnel responded to another alarm, this one at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South. Nothing was detected from the outside, and upon entering, they found burnt food in a microwave. Units removed the food and reset the alarm. No smoke was inside the building.
Alarms were reported close to 8:45 p.m. and shortly after 9 p.m. at Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street. For both calls, the fire department found nothing showing from the outside of the building, and no signs of smoke or fire were found after walking through the area, so the alarm was reset.
Approaching 9:15 p.m., firefighters received a report of a gas smell outside a building at 902 College Avenue. They found no readings on their gas detector. The City of Brenham Gas Department arrived to check the area, but nothing was found.
