FOOTBALL PREVIEW: BURTON VS. MILANO
The Burton Panther Football Team is getting ready for their annual Homecoming Game later tonight (Friday). The Panthers (7-0, 4-0), are hosting the Milano Eagles (2-5, 2-2) at 7pm at Panther Stadium.
Both teams have two extra wins due to McDade and Snook forfeiting the remainder of their respective seasons.
Burton is coming off of last week's 42-23 win over the Somerville Yeguas, while Milano is coming off of a 59-0 loss to Granger.
Last year, when these two teams met, Burton won 41-0.
On offense, Burton is led by QB Kayden Patterson, who was named by Dave Campbell's Texas Football as the 2A Quarterback of the Week back in week three.
Patterson has completed 31 out of 55 passes for 494 yards and six touchdowns. He is also the team's leading rusher with 91 carries for 736 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Burton also relies on RB Maleek Bibby and FB Rueben Rodriguez in the backfield. Bibby has 57 carries for 366 yards and four touchdowns. Rodriguez has come on strong in the last couple of weeks and is up to 35 carries for 226 yards and a touchdown.
Eli Simank is the team's leading receiver with eight catches for 194 yards and three touchdowns.
The Panthers average scoring 40.2 points per game, while giving up 25.4 points per game.
Meanwhile, the Eagles have struggled this season. They average giving up 51 points per game, while scoring an average of five points per game.
Their QB Ayden Fernandez is 16 out of 49 passing for 166 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions.
RB Peyton Steinbecker is the leading rusher with 82 carries for 239 yards.
WR Jesus Reyes is the leading receiver with 10 catches for 83 yards.
