BLINN LIVESTOCK JUDGING TEAM PLACES SECOND AT AMERICAN ROYAL CONTEST

  

Blinn College placed second at the recent American Royal Intercollegiate Livestock Judging Contest in Kansas City, Mo., continuing a string of top-five finishes during the 2025-26 season.

Blinn’s team of Ryleigh Gilfoil, Jenna Lindig, Kenna Schram, Paige Zimprich, Jhett West, Luke Domingue, Carolyne Turner, Sage Schenk, Hayden Fowler, and Nathan Oakes placed first in reasons and swine, and was fourth in cattle and sheep/goats.

Gilfoil placed fourth in the individual standings, including second in reasons and sheep/goats, sixth in swine, and 15th in cattle. Lindig was fifth overall, placing sixth in reasons, seventh in swine and sheep/goats, and 12th in cattle. Schram placed 12th in the individual contest, including 10th in swine.

Blinn won the State Fair of Texas contest, placed second at the Top Notch Intercollegiate Swine Judging Contest and the Tulsa State Fair, and was third at the National Barrow Show in Austin, Minn.

Blinn is ranked third among junior colleges in the Livestock.com power ratings but is only seven-thousandths of a point behind leader Black Hawk East College (1.448 to 1.441).

Blinn will compete next in the Southern Stockman contest Nov. 1 in Lubbock, Texas.

Livestock judging is part of Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program, which has one of the most active extracurricular programs in the state, including the Agriculture Club, wildlife, agriculture mechanics, and horticulture.
