Seventeen students who graduated in June from the face-to-face program and eight August graduates in the blended/online program passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) on their first attempt.

This marked the second year in a row that Blinn’s Vocational Nursing Program grads have all passed the NCLEX-PN on their first attempt. The NCLEX-PN national pass rate is 87.4% this year.

Graduates who passed the exam were Hope Avery, Boerne; Kyla Barney, Iola; Devani Denson, Beaumont; Katherine Hillier, Bellville; Amare Moland, Denver, Colo.; Reagan Ondrasek, Franklin; Hannah Perez, New Braunfels; Shawnta Richardson, Navasota; Tristan Bermea, La Salle, Texas; Sidney Berry, Navasota; Zanquitta Brown, Burton; Melissa Bundrant, Waller; Taneshia Casey, Bellville; Harley Coghlan, Brenham; Olivia Cook, Bryan; Joseph Flores, Bellville; Ikinajawill Griffin, Brenham; Brianna Hernandez, Amarillo; Lauren Herzog, Brenham; Keyuana Hilliard, Jackson, Miss.; Labrayla Pool, Snook; Roman Raney, Houston; Daniel Robinson, Crockett; Maria Sanchez, Jewett; and Tavin Wampler, Katy.

“This is an outstanding accomplishment to earn this pass rate again this year,” said Dr. Michelle Marburger, Director of the Vocational Nursing Program. “It is not an easy feat. I’m so proud of our students, who continued to push through the hard times, even when they didn’t think they could. Their hard work and perseverance paid off.”

The 10-month traditional program includes classroom, lab, and clinical training. Clinical rotations are held at hospitals and other healthcare facilities throughout the area.

The blended/online cohort allows students to complete theory coursework online with approximately three face-to-face days for testing, clinical, and laboratory training. Designed for students balancing a part-time job and nursing studies, the program was launched in 2018 as the first of its kind in the state.

Marburger highlighted the program’s exceptional staff and devoted nurse educators who have supported students throughout their journey to becoming nurses.

“Our faculty and staff consistently go above and beyond to meet the needs of our students every single day,” she said.

Marburger also acknowledged the impactful leadership of Michelle Trubenstein, Dean of Health Sciences. “Her commitment and guidance serve as a source of inspiration not only for our nursing program but for the entire Division of Health Sciences,” Marburger said.

Program graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN and the Nursing Jurisprudence Examination and are considered licensed vocational nurses after passing both exams.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics, the 2024 annual median pay for a vocational nurse was $62,340.

Applications for the spring 2026 traditional program are open through Wednesday, Nov. 5. Applications for the fall 2026 traditional and blended/online programs open March 4, 2026.
