Blinn College football failed to complete a pass in the end zone on fourth and goal, allowing Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College to hold on for a 28-21 victory Saturday in Miami, Okla.

The Buccaneers fell to 3-4 overall and 1-4 in Southwest Junior College Football Conference play.

“We fought back and got ourselves in position to tie it up there at the end,” Blinn head coach Ryan Mahon said, “we just weren’t able to punch it in. It was a tough way for the game to end.”

The Bucs trailed 28-14 heading into the fourth quarter and pulled within seven on the second touchdown connection between freshman quarterback Jack Emerson and freshman wide receiver Travaris Turner-Smith.

Blinn then marched all the way down the Golden Norsemen’s 3-yard line before NEO staged a defensive stand with 25 seconds remaining to seal the win.

The Bucs opened the scoring in the first quarter on Emersons first TD strike to Turner-Smith.

The Norsemen went on to take a 21-7 lead at the half.

A rushing touchdown from running back Jordan Hayes got the Bucs within 28-14 in the third quarter.

Up next, Blinn will look to keep its conference playoff hopes alive when it hosts Kilgore College at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Cub Stadium in Brenham. KWHI will broadcast the game live beginning with the pregame at 2:30pm on 1280AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com.
