GAS-LEAKING STOVE, TWO ACCIDENTS AMONG SIX WEEKEND RESPONSES FOR BRENHAM FD
The Brenham Fire Department responded to six calls between Saturday and Sunday.
Around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, firefighters and the City of Brenham Gas Department were dispatched to a report of a gas smell inside a home in the 1400 block of Timber Oaks Drive. Nothing was showing from the outside, and upon checking the inside, they found the stove leaking gas. The gas was turned off to the stove, and the gas department released the fire department from the call.
Shortly after 5:45 p.m., BFD members were called out to a transportation incident in the 1100 block of Highway 290 West. They found a single-vehicle accident with no injuries. After checking for fluids leaking and finding none, they returned to service.
Approaching 1 a.m. Sunday, a fire alarm was called in from Republic Services, 1709 Highway 36 North. The fire department found nothing showing from the exterior of the building and no signs of smoke or fire after walking through the building. The alarm was reset.
At 9:15 a.m., units went out for a smoke investigation at a residence in the 300 block of North Chappell Hill Street. After finding nothing showing from the outside of the building, they discovered a towel in the bathroom that was burnt but had no fire. The department made sure the towel was extinguished before clearing the call.
A few minutes after 12:30 p.m., BFD personnel responded to a report of an ATV rollover in the 6600 block of Trackside Road. The Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department arrived first and reported the patient was out from under the ATV and cancelled Brenham units.
Just before 8 p.m., firefighters received a report of a structure fire at McDonald’s, 500 Highway 290 West. However, they detected nothing from the outside of the building, and upon entering, there were no signs of smoke or fire and no readings on the gas detector.
