WASHINGTON CO. APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD APPROVES CONTRACT FOR REVIEWING HOMESTEAD EXEMPTIONS
The Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors met Tuesday to approve a contract for proactive homestead monitoring.
The contract with TrueRoll fulfills a requirement by the state that county appraisal districts implement a program to periodically review each homestead exemption granted by the district, at least once every five years.
The software services agreement is for four years with an annual cost of $11,500, but the first year has been prorated to a cost of $9,583. Chief Appraiser Dyann White said the district is guaranteed a full return on its investment, recovered by removing homesteads that no longer qualify for exemption.
In other business on Tuesday, the board approved a professional services contract with Harris Govern, the district’s current software provider, to update the coding in its software system. The cost is for $11,200. White said the intent is to help the appraisal district build systems to further streamline the appraisal process.
The board also approved a contract with The Master’s Touch, LLC for the printing of 2025 tax bills for an estimated cost of $20,616.
Additionally, board members received the district’s 2023-24 audit performed by Seidel Schroeder and forgave the penalty and interest for a late payment received from the City of Burton, which was mailed on time. The penalty would have been $9.86.
