BURTON MAN FACES FAMILY ASSAULT CHARGE

  

A Burton man was arrested on Monday by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on a family assault charge.

Shortly after 6 p.m., deputies responded to a disturbance call in the 3200 block of Cocks Crow Road.  According to the sheriff’s office, they were advised by a male subject that his wife had damaged the windows on his company truck and had made suicidal comments.

The woman reportedly told deputies that she threw a rock at the truck out of frustration, but did not intend to damage it.  She further stated that afterwards, her husband exited the truck and allegedly assaulted her.  Deputies observed markings consistent with her statement.

45-year-old Varr Anthony Heaton of Burton was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail, where he was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury to a Family Member.
