A number of 4-H members recently attended the Annual Washington County Farm Bureau and Texas AgriLife Extension Summer Ag tour.

The group visited the Rowland Taylor Vineyards and the Old Three Wagyu farming operations, which are located on FM 1155 East near Old Washington.

The group toured the 600-acre farm on a trailer driven by Lance Searle with Emily Searle serving as their tour guide.

4-H students learned about Wagyu beef production, selection, sales, weight measurements and food preparation.

While visiting the vineyards, they had an opportunity to pick some grapes for the harvest season.

Washington County Farm Bureau President Larry Winkelmann called the on-site visits, such as touring farms, valuable and important for local youth.
