VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW: BURTON VS. WEIMAR
The Burton Lady Panther Volleyball Team renews a rivalry with a familiar playoff foe, the Weimar LadyKats, later tonight (Thursday) in the Area Round of the UIL Volleyball Playoffs.
The match is scheduled to begin at 6pm at Fayetteville High School. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 5:35pm on KWHI 1280AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com.
Burton comes into the match as the Champions from District 26-2A. They ran the tables for a perfect 8-0 district record and then picked up a clean sweep last week over McDade in the Bi-District Round.
They are 37-9 overall and have won their last 11 matches in a row.
Weimar comes in as the runner-up in District 27-2A, but because the schools are being divided into Division I and Division II, this season, they are the top seed for that district in Class 2A Division II.
The LadyKats are coming off of a three-set sweep over Pettus last week.
Weimar developed into Burton's playoff nemesis after beating them three straight years in the Area Round from 2021-2023. Burton, finally, broke through last season and defeated the LadyKats to advance to Regionals.
Weimar is currently 22-14 overall.
Burton and Weimar have faced off twice in tournament action this season. Burton has won both matches, 2-1 on August 15, and 2-0 on August 30.
The winner moves on to face the winner of Harper and Agua Dulce in the Region Semifinals later this week. Harper and Agua Dulce face off tonight (Tuesday) at 6pm at Falls City High School.
