GRAND OPENING ON SATURDAY FOR NEW WALLER COUNTY COURTHOUSE

The public is invited to attend the grand opening of the new Waller County Courthouse tomorrow (Saturday) morning in Hempstead.

The new Courthouse is located at 836 Austin Street, the site of the old courthouse, which was demolished a couple of years ago.

Due to limited parking near the courthouse, Waller County Sheriff Troy Guidry is encouraging guests to park in the Barry Fleet Services shuttle parking lot at 962 Business Highway 290.

Shuttles will run from 8am-3pm taking guests from the parking area to the Courthouse.

Detour signs are going to be set up directing traffic one block south on 7th street, three blocks west on Bremond Street, and one block north on 10th Street.

Motorists are asked to follow the signage, and be mindful of pedestrians.

After receiving reports of the foundation of the old courthouse deteriorating, the Waller County Commissioners approved the construction of a new courthouse back in late 2022 for $32 million.

The new facility will be home to the Waller County Commissioners Court, the tax assessor-collector’s office, as well as the offices of County Clerk, County Auditor, and County Treasurer.
