BURTON GIRLS BASKETBALL OPENS THE SEASON WITH A PAIR OF WINS

The Burton Lady Panther Basketball Team got the new season off to a good start with a pair of wins over the weekend.

Burton opened on Friday night with a home victory over the Navasota Lady Rattlers 58-52.

Harper Hodde led the Lady Panthers with 20 points, while Leilah Ellis added 16 points, and Val Hernandez chipped in with eight points.

Then, on Saturday, the Lady Panthers went on the road to Rockdale, and came away with a 46-40 win.

Ellis and Hodde tied for the team lead with 10 points each. Hernandez was right behind them with nine points.

Next up, Burton is scheduled to be on the road at Shiner on Tuesday night for a 6pm start time.
