BURTON VOLLEYBALL SEAS0N ENDS AT THE REGION FINALS TO SHINER

For the second season in a row, the Shiner Lady Comanches have ended the season for the Burton Lady Panther Volleyball Team.

It was everything you could want in a playoff match. It was an intense back-and-forth battle between two very talented teams that would see numerous lead changes.

They also played in front of a raucous crowd that hung on every point.

Shiner won the first set 26-24. Burton came back to tie it by winning the second set 25-23. Shiner won the third set 25-21. Burton tied it again by winning the fourth set 25-14.

However, it was the Lady Comanches that walked away with the win after taking the final set by the narrowest of margins 17-15.

Laci Broesche had another huge night with a triple-double. She had 14 kills, 11 digs, and 20 assists. The Lady Panthers also got double-doubles from Lexi Broesche and Adison Harmel. Lexi finished with 19 kills and 19 digs. Harmel came up with 31 assists and 13 digs.

Paige Fritsch led the defense with 32 digs.

Burton finished the season with a record of 40-10. The loss also snaps their 14-match winning streak. It was the final match for Seniors Amaya Williams, Paige Fritsch, Taylor Groce, and Aerynn Huntsmann.

Shiner (26-17) now moves on to face Iola, who swept Detroit 3-0 last (Friday) night. Those two teams will face off in the State Semifinals on Saturday at 1pm, at Brenham High School.
