RT-C ADVANCES WITH 3-1 WIN OVER UTOPIA

The Round Top-Carmine Cubette Volleyball Team is moving on in the playoffs after a 3-1 victory over the Utopia Lady Buffaloes last (Tuesday) night in the Region Semifinals of UIL Playoffs.

1A Volleyball is different from the upper levels in that it has an extra round of playoff action. So, while 2A-6A were in the Region Championship matches, the 1A teams were in the Region Semifinals, and play in the Region Championship on Friday.

Round Top-Carmine beat Utopia in the first set 25-23, Utopia won the second set 27-25, but then RT-C came back to take the final two sets 25-16 and 25-22.

The Cubettes will next face McMullen County in the Region Championship on Friday at 3pm at Athens High School. McMullen is coming off of a three-set sweep over Fayetteville last (Tuesday) night.

The winner plays the winner of Sulphur Bluff vs. Blum in the State Semifinals on Saturday at 2pm, which is also in Athens.
