BRENHAM BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT APPROVES VARIANCE REQUESTS FOR LOT SIZE, DEPTH
The Brenham Board of Adjustment unanimously approved two variance requests at its meeting on Monday.
The first item came from Katherine Cooper and Colby Crouse, who wished to combine two lots at 500 and 506 West Alamo Street, consisting of 0.26 acres and 0.17 acres. The property at 500 West Alamo Street contains a single family home, while the property at 506 West Alamo is currently vacant.
The request was to allow an average depth of 91 feet for the combined lot, below the standard minimum of 115 feet. The lot already meets the minimum lot area and width requirements.
City staff received two written comments in support of the request. No additional comments were presented at the meeting.
The second item at the meeting was from William Kmiec concerning 0.3755 acres at 1000 North Park Street and 103 Emile Street, made up of two single-family homes and an outdoor kitchen area.
The applicant sought to allow a lot size of 5,569 square feet, below the requirement of 7,000 square feet, and an average lot depth of 92 feet, where 115 feet is the norm, in order to subdivide and plat the existing property into two lots.
City staff received two written comments before the meeting, one in support of the request and one against. Two other citizens spoke during the meeting in opposition.
