BRENHAM POLICE MAKE THREE ARRESTS OVER THE WEEKEND

The Brenham Police Department made three arrests over the weekend on a variety of charges.

Around 12:30pm on Friday, Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 1000 block of Rhames Avenue. After a foot chase, 40-year-old Brian Watkins of Brenham was taken into custody. Police say Watkins had two active felony warrants out of Washington County for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 Greater Than 4 Grams, but Less Than 200 Grams. He was also charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Previous Conviction, and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On Saturday, just after 7:45pm, Police Corporal James Catchings and Officer Na Vone Gurley were dispatched the 900 Block of Rhames Avenue for a reported traffic crash. During their investigation, the driver, 25-year-old Matthew Sain of Brenham was determined to be intoxicated. He was arrested on a DWI charge, and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On Sunday, Officer Jenkins was sent to the 2000 block of FM 389 just after 7:30pm in reference to property damage. Upon arrival, the investigation revealed that a brick structure had been struck and damaged by a vehicle. The driver, 22-year-old Nely Alexa Avila of Brenham, was placed into custody, and transported to the Washington County Jail. She was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Criminal Mischief Greater Than $2,500 But Less Than $30,000.
