The Blinn College men’s basketball team endured a tough Wrangler Club Shootout finale on Saturday, falling 88-56 to host and 12th-ranked Odessa College in Odessa.

The Buccaneers are now 6-2 overall.

“There’s a reason Odessa is ranked; that’s a very good basketball team,” Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher said. “We got a lot of good experience at this tournament against some very good competition, and hopefully we’ll learn from this as we head into Region 14 play.”

The Bucs were in striking distance early and trailed just 35-26 at halftime, but the Wranglers used a big second half to pull away.

Freshman guard Kendarius Johnson paced Blinn with a season- and career-high 23 points. Sophomore guard Dashawn Ceaser finished with 11 points and six rebounds; freshman forward Rollings Kamanda had eight points; and freshman guard Desmeon Jones added seven points with five assists.

Up next, Blinn hits the road for its Region 14 opener at Coastal Bend College at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, in Beeville, Texas.
