Just past 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Sergeant Adam Zavala conducted a traffic stop at Highway 105 and Big Bird Lane for a license plate violation.  After detecting an odor of marijuana, the sheriff’s office performed a search of the vehicle, which resulted in the discovery of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a handgun.  The passenger, 25-year-old Jessica Murillo of Navasota, was taken to the Washington County Jail on charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz. and Unlawful Carrying of Weapons.

At 3:15 p.m., deputies responded to the 15400 block of FM 1155 East regarding two male subjects shooting close to a bridge.  A vehicle fitting the description provided by the caller was located and stopped for a defective headlamp.  Once deputies made contact, their request for consent to search the vehicle was denied, and Brenham Police K-9 Maki was summoned to the location.  K-9 Maki alerted to the vehicle, and a probable cause search resulted in the seizure of seven guns and marijuana.  All three occupants of the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Johnny Biggs III of Washington, 21-year-old Waylon Dontae Powell of Brenham and 19-year-old Jace Windale Powell of Washington, were taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail.  The three were each charged with Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz. and Unlawful Carrying of Weapons, with Jace Powell receiving an additional charge of No Seat Belt – Passenger.
