CUBETTE BASKETBALL GETS PAST BELLAIRE FOR A 55-53 WIN

The Brenham Cubette Basketball Team held off a late comeback by the Bellaire Lady Cardinals to pick up a 55-53 win on Monday.

The first quarter was back and forth with Bellaire taking a 15-14 lead at the end of the period. The second quarter also went to the Lady Cardinals 11-9, which gave them a three-point lead, 26-23, at halftime.

Brenham had a big third quarter where they outscored Bellaire 21-10, and took a 44-36 lead.

The Lady Cardinals outscored the Cubettes 17-11 in the fourth quarter, but Brenham managed to escape with the victory.

Antyiahna Lang and Janiyah Mathis led the Cubettes in scoring with nine points each. Meanwhile, Carmen McWilliams and Myiah Madison added eight points each, and Sandra Prieto chipped in with six points.

Prieto led the Cubettes with 13 rebounds, Mathis pulled down 10 rebounds, and McWilliams added seven rebounds.

Next up, Brenham will get one more game in tomorrow (Wednesday) at Dayton beginning at 1pm.
