SEVEN ACCIDENT CALLS OVER WEEKEND FOR BRENHAM FD
The Brenham Fire Department responded to seven calls on Saturday and two on Sunday.
The first call came in at 11:45 a.m. Saturday for a crash in the 1500 block of Highway 36 North, where firefighters found a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. They assisted with blocking for traffic control and scene safety, helped EMS in checking for injuries, assessed the vehicles for any hazards, and swept debris off the roadway.
Another accident was called in around 12:30 p.m. at South Day Street and West Stone Street. Units responded to a report of a collision that was upgraded to one with entrapment. They found a two-vehicle crash, but both patients were able to get out, so no extrication was needed. The department helped check for injuries and provided blocking for scene safety.
Just past 12:30 p.m., a two-vehicle accident was reported in the 2100 block of Highway 290 West. BFD members found both vehicles had minor damage. They blocked the scene, helped EMS check for patient injuries and looked for any hazards present.
Shortly before 1 p.m., a two-vehicle collision was called in from East Alamo Street and Clinton Street, blocking the inside lane. A patient on scene requested EMS for assessment of injuries, so the fire department asked for EMS to be dispatched. They also provided scene safety and checked for any potential hazards.
Just shy of 2:30 p.m., BFD personnel were called for a smoke investigation at Domino’s Pizza, 401 Highway 290 West, after receiving a report of a smoking bush in the parking lot. They found no fire or smoke, but they soaked the bush to extinguish any chance of a re-ignition.
A few minutes before 3:15 p.m., firefighters were dispatched for a two-vehicle accident at the cloverleaf interchange of Highway 290 West and Highway 36 North. They discovered a rear-end collision with one vehicle on the shoulder and the other off the road. The department assisted EMS with checking for injuries, monitored for any hazards and blocked the road for scene safety.
At 11:30 p.m., units received a rescue call at Murphy USA, 2615 Highway 36 South, after a report of a dog locked in a vehicle. The department found a vehicle with a dog inside, and the owner stated that the dog locked the door. Firefighters were able to unlock the vehicle from an open window.
Close to 3:15 a.m. Sunday, a single-vehicle accident was called in from the 2100 block of Highway 290 West. The department found a single vehicle stuck on the median with no damage to the vehicle. Units provided blocking until the vehicle was freed from the median.
Just after 4:15 p.m., BFD personnel were called out to a two-vehicle accident in the 1500 block of FM 389. Both vehicles were in a parking lot, and a police officer advised the fire department that everything was okay.
