The Washington County Chamber of Commerce has now begun accepting nominations for their annual year end awards.

The awards include Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, New Business of the Year, and Non-Profit of the Year.

For the Man of the Year and Woman of the Year Awards, the criteria include contributions to the Washington County Community in 2025, and the lasting impact.

In addition to that, there must be evidence of professional and business excellence, exhibition of leadership, participation in community or state activities, and contributions to local civic organizations over the years.

Last year’s winners were Hal Moorman for Man of the Year and Sharon Brass for Woman of the Year.

Meanwhile, the Business of the Year is open to businesses that have 25 or more employees.

The Small Business of the Year is open to businesses that are independently owned and have 24 or fewer employees.

The New Business of the Year is open to businesses that are independently owned, and have been in Brenham for less than three years.

The Non-Profit of the Year must be a 501-C3 organization, and have been in Brenham for at least three years.

Last year’s winners were Blue Bell for Business of the Year, Plinkers Ammo for Small Business of the Year, VIEW Brenham for New Business of the Year, and Hope Gathering for Non-Profit of the Year.

An independent committee will select the Man of the Year and Woman of the Year from the nominations submitted.

For the business categories, the top three nominations for each award will be placed in an on-line poll for the community to vote on.

Nominations must be submitted by 5pm on Thursday, January 8. Entries can be taken to the Chamber Office, and submitted in person. They can also be e-mailed to dawn@brenhamtexas.com.

The winners will be announced at the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and Brenham Economic Development Foundation Banquet on Tuesday, January 27, at the Fireman’s Training Center.
