BLINN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS ON THE ROAD TO HILL COLLEGE
Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
The Blinn College women’s basketball team came up short on the road at Hill College on Tuesday in Hillsboro, Texas.
The Rebels rallied for a 70-60 victory to end the Buccaneers’ winning streak at five games.
Blinn is now 8-5 on the year.
“Defensively, we struggled tonight, and I did not have our team ready to contain Hill’s best players; that is on me,” Bucs head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “Our effort and body language were good and that’s all I can ask for right now.”
Blinn inched ahead 16-15 by the end of the first quarter, but the Rebels battled back for a 39-33 halftime lead and never looked back.
Hill held a 56-45 advantage after the third period.
Sophomore guard Taylor Spencer and sophomore forward Cynthia LeCompte paced the Bucs with 11 points apiece. Sophomore guard Mariah Houston added 10 points and freshman forward Amaya Weathersby chipped in nine.
Up next, Blinn travels to No. 9 McLennan Community College for a 6 p.m. showdown on Thursday in Waco, Texas.
