Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
The Blinn College women’s basketball team entered the holiday break with a bang thanks to a 72-45 road win over Temple College on Saturday in Temple, Texas.
The Buccaneers improved to 9-6 on the year.
“This was a great win today on the road, and by far the best we have played this season so far,” Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “We played hard every possession and I was so proud of our energy and competitiveness after a tough first semester.”
The Bucs led just 11-6 after the first period but exploded for 21 points in the second to take a 32-15 lead into halftime.
Blinn’s cushion grew to 56-33 after the third quarter.
Three sophomores – guards Taylor Spencer and Mariah Houston as well as forward Cynthia LeCompte – tallied 12 points apiece for the Bucs. Sophomore guard Jasey Campbell chipped in eight and freshman forward Amaya Weathersby added seven.
Blinn’s season will continue in the new year with a rematch against Temple set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, at the Kruse Center in Brenham.
