DECEMBER SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR ALL OF WASHINGTON CO.
Sales and tax distributions in Washington County ended 2025 on a positive note, with all local entities reporting higher rebates this December when compared to a year ago.
Washington County’s collection for December came in at $411,445, a 9.64 percent increase from the $375,250 rebate in December 2024. For 2025, the county received $4,910,170, up 6.58 percent from $4,607,019 over the span of 2024.
Brenham took in $874,757 this month, an uptick of 1.37 percent from last December’s payment of $862,854. For the year, the city’s receipts totaled $10,550,140, up 5.21 percent from 2024’s sum of $10,026,966.
Burton received $13,662 in December, which is up 14.66 percent from what it brought in at this time last year, at $11,915. As a whole, the city tallied $163,130 in rebates this year, an increase of 2.86 percent from the total of $158,591 a year ago.
Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations by the state this month, up 7.5 percent from December 2024 and up 5.1 percent for the year.
December’s allocations are based on sales made in October by businesses that report tax monthly.
