SHERIFF’S OFFICE MAKES ARRESTS FOR MARIJUANA POSSESSION, TRAFFIC CHARGES
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported three arrests between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Shortly after 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sergeant Adam Zavala conducted a traffic stop at Highway 105 and Sweed Road for expired registration. According to the sheriff’s office, the driver had a suspended license and active warrants. 39-year-old Earnest Ray Heard Jr. of Brenham was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with Display/Expired Registration, two counts of Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, and Driving While License Invalid Enhanced.
Just shy of 9:15 p.m., Sergeant Zavala conducted a traffic stop for speeding in the 7900 block of Highway 290 East. Upon contact, deputies detected an odor of marijuana, to which the occupants admitted to possessing. A probable cause search resulted in the discovery of marijuana and several bags with residue. The driver, 27-year-old Demarcus Deshawn Jones of Houston, was taken into custody and booked at the Washington County Jail for Possession of Marijuana 2-4 oz., Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unrestrained Child (4-16) Not Secured by Safety Belt, and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Responsibility.
A few minutes past 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, Sergeant Zavala conducted a traffic stop in the 9800 block of Highway 290 East for failure to signal a lane change. The sheriff’s office stated that the driver had active suspensions on his driver’s license and was taken into custody. 31-year-old Eric Demond January of Missouri City was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with Driving While License Invalid Enhanced.
