BURTON GIRLS BASKETBALL WINS THE LADY PANTHER SHOOTOUT
The Burton Lady Panthers Basketball Team earned two big wins on Saturday to claim the "Lady Panther Shootout" Tournament Championship.
In the first game, Burton defeated Rockdale 45-34. The Lady Panthers jumped out to an early 14-6 lead after the first quarter. Burton also took the second quarter 14-12, which gave them a 28-18 advantage at halftime.
The Lady Panthers stayed consistent with another 14 points in the third quarter to just ten points for the Lady Tigers, which made it a 42-28 game. Rockdale did win the final quarter 6-3, but by then, the game was out of reach.

In the Championship Game, Burton beat Cameron Yoe 60-45. The Lady Panthers dominated the first half of the game by outscoring Cameron 19-7 in the first quarter and 18-7 in the second quarter to take 37-14 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Cameron actually outscored Burton in the second half. They won the third quarter 14-11 and the fourth quarter 17-12. However, it just was not enough to overcome the Lady Panthers' early lead.

Burton improves to 20-4 on the season. Next up, they will return to district play on Friday against Hearne.
