CUB BASKETBALL CRUISES TO 62-43 WIN OVER COLLEGE STATION
The Brenham Cub Basketball Team used a big third quarter to earn their third straight district win 62-43 over College Station last (Tuesday) night at the Brenham High School Gym.
The game was deadlocked after the first quarter with each team scoring 15 points. The Cubs then pulled away slightly in the second quarter by outscoring the Cougars 16-12. That gave Brenham a 31-27 lead at halftime.
Coming out of the locker room, the Cubs kicking it into and extra gear by scoring 23 points, while defensively holding College Station to only six points.
The only quarter won by the Cougars was the fourth, which they took 10-8.
Jayden Hebert led the way for Brenham with 26 points, and Dawud Majied added 14 points.
Chris Guidry chipped in with seven points, while Roderick Martin had six points.
The Cubs are now 17-10 overall and wrap up the first half of district play with a 3-3 record.
Brenham is scheduled for a bye on Friday. Due to the threat of inclement weather, the other District 17-5A games have been moved up to Thursday night.
Their next game will be Tuesday, January 27, at Montgomery, at 6:30pm.
