BLINN LIVESTOCK JUDGING TEAM PLACES FOURTH AT NATIONAL WESTERN STOCK SHOW

  

The Blinn College livestock judging team continued its string of top-five finishes at the National Western Stock Show (NWSS) in Denver.

Blinn was fourth in the team standings at the Jan. 16 NWSS livestock show, placing second in reasons, third in cattle and cattle reasons, and fourth in swine.

Ryleigh Gilfoil led Blinn, placing fifth among individuals. Gilfoil was second in reasons, cattle, and cattle reasons.

Jhett West was sixth high individual, including high individual in the swine category, third in reasons, fifth in sheep/goats, and 15^th in cattle reasons. Paige Zimprich was 16^th overall, including 11^th in swine.

Blinn also placed third in the NWSS Carload Contest on Jan. 17, including first in questions and seventh in placings. Luke Domingue was first in the individual contest, finishing second in placings. and fourth in questions.

Kayleigh Conant, Sage Schenk, and Ian Moss tied for fourth in questions.

Blinn has finished in the top five at every 2025-26 contest where it competed – first at the State Fair of Texas and the Griswold Cattle Classic, second at the American Royal Intercollegiate Livestock Judging Contest and Tulsa State Fair, third at the National Barrow Show, fourth at the Cattleman’s Congress and NWSS, and fifth at the North American International Livestock Exposition.

Blinn remains in third place in LivestockJudging.com’s national community college rankings for the 2025-26 school year with a 1.430 power rating.

The livestock judging team is part of Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program, which has one of the most active extracurricular programs in the state, including livestock judging, the Agriculture Club, wildlife, agriculture mechanics, and horticulture.
