FAYETTE COUNTY TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO COCAINE ARREST
A traffic stop in the Schulenburg area led to a pair of arrests for drug charges on Wednesday afternoon.
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that Deputy Cody Williams conducted a traffic stop on a 2022 Volkswagon Jetta that was traveling Eastbound on I-10 near Mile Marker 760 just after 3:30pm.
After making contact with the driver and conducting a further investigation, Deputy Williams was given consent to search the vehicle.
Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith arrived at the scene to assist.
During the search, a compartment was located containing ten bundles of what field tested positive for cocaine.
40-year-old Carla Ibet Gonzalez and 33-year-old David Alberto Gonzalez, both of Laredo, were arrested and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center in La Grange.
They have both been charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
