BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO HOLD WORKSHOP ON AOKA AGREEMENT, SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE
The Burton City Council will revisit discussion on an agreement with a planning and inspection firm during a workshop on Tuesday.
Councilmembers held lengthy talks during their meeting earlier this month on a potential agreement with Aoka Engineering, who assists emerging and rural communities with plan review and inspection services in order to prepare them for growth.
Numerous residents and business owners presented concerns about the extent of the firm’s involvement and responsibility, so the council opted to table the matter and schedule a workshop to narrow the scope of the prospective agreement with Aoka.
The council’s other topic in work session will be continuing review of the city’s proposed subdivision ordinance. City officials have used ordinance language from the cities of Carmine and Snook to lead the creation of a document designed to guide responsible development, while avoiding infringing upon landowners’ rights.
The council will meet Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Burton City Hall.
