PANTHER BASKETBALL PICKS UP A DISTRICT WIN OVER SNOOK

The Burton Panther Basketball Team picked up their second straight district win, and third win in the last four district games, by defeating the Snook Blue Jays 62-41 on Friday night at the Burton High School Gym.

The Panthers jumped out to a 12-7 lead in the first quarter, and then blew the game open with a 16-6 second quarter. That gave Burton a 28-13 advantage at half time.

The second half also belonged to Burton, although, Snook was able to keep it closer. The Panthers outscored the Blue Jays 15-14 in the third quarter, and 19-14 in the fourth quarter to get the win.

Kayden Patterson and Yobani Brewer led Burton with 16 points each. Meanwhile, Jason Gonzalez added 11 points, and Eli Simank finished with 10 points.

With the win, the Panthers are now 11-7 overall, and they finish up the first half of district with a 3-3 record.

Next up, they will be traveling to Hearne on Tuesday night to battle the first place Eagles beginning at 7:30pm.
