BRENHAM PLANNING & ZONING ELECTS 2026 LEADERSHIP, APPROVES REPLAT & SPECIFIC USE PERMIT

The Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission elected its 2026 leadership during its first meeting of the new year on Monday.

Commissioners elected M. Keith Behrens to serve as chair, Deanna Alfred as vice chair and Calvin Kossie as secretary.

Later, the commission approved a replat request from James and Harriet Sue Jenkins concerning a recently purchased single-family home sitting on 0.366 acres at 1804 Westbrooke Cove.  The residence on the property has a back porch that encroaches slightly into the existing 15-foot building line and public utility easement.  The replat decreases the public utility easement and rear building line to 10 feet along the existing property line, adjacent to the right-of-way for an undeveloped, platted cul-de-sac.

Another item approved was a specific use permit request for a 0.68-acre lot owned by Scott Bailey at 1307 Hidden Creek Lane, located in a single-family residential use district.  The applicant plans to build a 320-square-foot accessory dwelling unit on the northeast side of the property, using similar construction features of the property’s main structure.

A replat request for 5.281 acres of vacant land on the east side of South Blue Bell Road and the west end of Oak Alley Boulevard was pulled from the agenda at the request of the applicant.  Action will be postponed until the commission’s next meeting on February 23rd
