BRENHAM FIREFIGHTERS CALLED OUT WEDNESDAY FOR MULCH FIRE
The Brenham Fire Department responded to four calls on Wednesday and two early this (Thursday) morning.
Around 7 a.m. Wednesday, firefighters went out to a crash at Highway 36 North and Christmas Road. However, they were cancelled enroute to the call.
Approaching 7:30 a.m., the department was dispatched to a mulch fire at the BVR Collection Station, 2009 Old Chappell Hill Road. Units used water and machines to spread the mulch out for extinguishing.
Just before 10:15 a.m., BFD members were called out for a fire alarm at Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street. They made location and found it was a false alarm.
At 9:30 p.m., personnel responded to a crash at FM 50 and Five Oaks Lane. The department provided traffic control until the vehicle was moved off the roadway.
Close to 12:30 a.m. today, firefighters were dispatched to a gas odor or leak at Burleson Street and South Jackson Street. They stood by until the City of Brenham Gas Department made location.
At 6 a.m., members of the Brenham Fire Department and Salem Volunteer Fire Department received a report of a structure fire in the 2900 block of Triangle Z Lane. Units arrived to find nothing showing from a single-story home, but they did find the air handler in the HVAC unit was causing a smell in the structure, so they advised the homeowner to contact an HVAC company.
