The Brenham Fire Department responded to six calls on Thursday.
Around 1:30 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a residence in the 1400 block of Allison Street for a fire alarm. Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building. The department found that the City of Brenham was conducting smoke testing in the area. No smoke or fire was found.
A few minutes before 3:15 p.m., members of the Brenham Fire Department and Berlin Volunteer Fire Department were called out to the 2900 block of Spanish Oaks Drive for a report of a shed on fire. They arrived on location to find heavy smoke coming from the shed. The Brenham department used tank water to extinguish the fire, while Berlin members helped with overhaul.
Around 4:45 p.m., a fire alarm was called in from Discount Tire, 2800 Wood Ridge Boulevard. Units found construction at the site was causing the alarm to go off.
Another fire alarm was reported shortly after 6:45 p.m. at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South. Upon arrival, the department found the alarm had been reset by an employee, who said it was a false alarm.
Approaching 8:30 p.m., members of the Brenham Fire Department and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department went out for a report of a structure fire at a home in the 3600 block of Bluehaven Hill Circle. Chappell Hill units made location, but found nothing showing from the outside of the home. Members of both departments could not find anything inside the home that caused the smell of smoke. Chappell Hill volunteers stayed on scene, while Brenham units returned to service.
Around 10:30 p.m., BFD personnel responded to Blue Bell Creameries, 1101 South Blue Bell Road, for a fire alarm. They found nothing showing from the outside of the building and were advised by an employee that it was a false alarm.
