PANTHER BASKETBALL GETS BACK ON WINNING TRACK AGAINST IOLA
After a tough loss to Hearne on Tuesday, the Burton Panther Basketball Team got back on the winning track with a 76-51 victory over the Iola Bulldogs last (Friday) night at the Burton High School Gym.
Burton got off to a fast start by taking an early 17-8 lead in the first quarter. Iola came back to outscore the Panthers 21-17 in the second quarter.
That gave Burton a 34-29 lead going into the locker room at halftime.
The Panthers would then put the game away in the second half by outscoring the Bulldogs 25-9 in the third quarter.
For good measure, Burton also won the fourth quarter 17-13.
Kayden Patterson led the way with 24 points, Yobani Brewer added 23 points, and Jason Gonzalez finished with 16 points.
With the win, the Panthers are now 12-8 on the season, and 4-4 in District 26-2A.
Next up, Burton is going to host Bremond on Tuesday night at 7:30pm at the Burton High School Gym. It is also Seniors Night.
