WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS SUBMIT GRANT APPLICATIONS, PROCEED WITH CONTRACTS FOR EMERGENCY GENERATORS

Washington County Commissioners today (Tuesday) agreed to submit federal grant applications and award contracts for emergency generator projects.

The county’s applications through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program will allow the county to be reimbursed for a majority of the cost to put in generators at the Expo Event Center, Expo Office Annex and EMS Station #3 in Burton.  The generator projects were awarded to Moeller Electric, LLC.

According to County Auditor Shawna Hollis, for the Expo, one 400 kW generator and one 260 kW generator will be paid through $512,662 in federal funds and $56,962 by the county.  At the EMS station, a 30 kW generator will be funded by $57,786 on the federal side and $6,420 from the county.

Also at today’s meeting, commissioners received quarterly reports from the Expo and EMS Department before accepting a bid for reinforced concrete box culverts for Engineering and Development Services.  The winning vendor was Del Zotto Products of Texas, Inc., with a bid of $178,800.
