BRENHAM FD RESPONDS THURSDAY TO VEHICLE HITTING BUILDING

The Brenham Fire Department went out to five calls on Thursday.

Close to 12:15 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 2100 block of Arlen Avenue for a gas leak.  They made location to find a construction company on location had hit a gas line, and they stood by until the City of Brenham Gas Department was able to cap the line off.  After the line was capped, the fire department returned to service.

Nearing 2:15 p.m., units responded to the 1900 block of Highway 105 for a smoke investigation.  They found a controlled burn and saw that the landowner was with the fire.

At 2:30 p.m., BFD members were called out to Anytime Fitness, 2660 Highway 36 South, for a report of a vehicle hitting the building.  The department reported no major damage and no one injured.  Once police arrived, firefighters cleared the call.

At 4:15 p.m., personnel went out to the 1000 block of Burleson Street for a transportation incident.  They found a two-vehicle accident with no injuries and made sure no fluids were leaking before returning to the station.

Shortly after 5:45 p.m., the Brenham Fire Department and Salem Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to Wonder Hill Square for a grass fire.  However, Salem units cancelled Brenham’s response, since it was a controlled burn.
