BRENHAM ACTIVIST ASSOCIATION BLACK HISTORY BREAKFAST FEB. 14

  

The Brenham Activist Association is getting ready for its 37th Annual Black History Breakfast.

The gathering will take place on Saturday, February 14th at the New Life Church of God Activity Center, 1990 FM 389 in Brenham.  Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m., and the program starts at 9 a.m.

The featured speaker will be Sheryl Calton, a longtime educator and school counselor who has served for over four decades in public, private and charter school systems.  She is currently the school counselor at the Beatrice Mayes Institute in Houston, where she leads counseling initiatives based in trauma-informed practice, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, and restorative practices.

Calton has also served as a counselor in Houston ISD and as principal of several Catholic schools in the greater Houston area, as well as principal of St. Patrick Catholic School in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.  Additionally, she has collaborated with principals, mentors and educator preparation programs statewide.
